The no buy challenge tracker on this site is free, private and works in your browser. Each day gets one of five statuses; allowed purchases count as following the plan; unlogged, future and paused days never count as failures; and there is no streak. Your plan stays in this browser only if you choose to save it — nothing is sent to us or anyone else.
The five statuses
| Status | Meaning | Counted as |
|---|---|---|
| Followed my plan | No purchase in the paused categories | Followed |
| Made an allowed purchase | Something on your allowed list or an exception | Followed |
| Made an off-plan purchase | A purchase your rules did not allow | Off-plan |
| Paused / not assessed | A day you set aside (illness, travel, a hard week) | Not assessed |
| Not logged | Nothing recorded yet | Not assessed |
The tracker shows elapsed days, assessed days, plan-following days and off-plan days separately. If it shows a percentage, it is plan-following days divided by assessed days — and when nothing has been assessed yet, it simply says so rather than showing 0%.
How it handles real life
- Future days can hold planning notes (“birthday dinner”), but cannot be marked complete in advance.
- Pausing the whole plan does not move the end date. Extending a plan is a separate, explicit choice.
- Changing a rule records the date. Earlier check-ins keep the rule they were logged under.
- Undo is available for recent check-ins.
- Calendar months and years are true calendar periods; starting part-way shows only the remaining days.
- Phones get a list view instead of a cramped calendar grid.
Where your data goes
Nowhere, unless you choose. You can try the full tracker without saving. If you turn on “Save on this device”, your plan is stored in this browser profile only: it does not sync across devices, clearing browser data can remove it, and anyone using the same browser profile could see it. You can export a backup file, import it later, and delete your local data at any time. The private workspace carries no ads and no analytics scripts.
Prefer paper?
Printable trackers for 7 days, 30 days and a calendar month — in A4 and US Letter — are on the printables page. From My Challenge you can also print your own plan’s rule sheet and tracker; personal notes are left off unless you choose to include them.
